Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. He moved to Washington, D.C. over thirty years ago as a freshman at Ivy College. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries. At a few months old Jordan was diagnosed with cerebral palsy but it has never stopped him from following his dreams. Upon graduation Jordan began volunteering in the mailroom at the Broadway campus of Kennedy Krieger Institute which serviced all it’s facilities.. From there he moved with his mother and stepdad to New Smyrna Beach, FL where he continues to participate in several volunteer activities, including the local hospital’s OR waiting room where he greets families as they wait for their loved ones. He was also recently elected onto the Activities and Leisure Board for the City of New Smyrna Beach, where he contributes much of his time to meetings for the city. Some of Jordan’s favorite leisure activities in Florida are paddle boarding, yoga, mahjong and playing trivia with friends. Although no longer living in Baltimore he remains a die-hard Baltimore Ravens fan. Waters Kimberly L. Waters is a unique free-lance makeup-artist, fashionista and CP(cerebral palsy) advocate. Kimberly has worked in beauty industry in addition to the make-up and fashion industry for over 7 years, as she has an immense passion for it, and truly loves her craft. Kimberly has trained under professional make-up artist Maeion Bryant Beauty & Co. and The Mobile Beauty Connection, which gave her the confidence and poise to pursue a career as a freelance make-up artist. Considered a “trooper” by friends and family, Kimberly is known for her ability to persevere as she was born prematurely with CP. She turned her challenges with CP into blessings, as she never gave in nor gave up. Kimberly now lives victoriously after overcoming many obstacles that were deemed unattainable including walking, talking, graduating, becoming independent, cooking, driving, and many more achievements to come. Kimberly is also blessed to have parents (Penny, Kim), identical twin sister (Kayla), and loving grandparents who have been extremely supportive while always believing in her dreams and desires. It is Kimberly’s deepest prayer that her testimony will give people who have CP unwavering hope. She believes that trying one’s best may look different for everyone who truly tries. “The act of progressing from one stage to another is a process of not just advancing but thinking how best to get there, which is the biggest step in the process. As a strong Christian, having faith in more than what one see’s, makes me a true believer that all things are possible”. Advocacy is in Emily’s blood! Her parents and twin sister are very active in the community so it is only natural for Emily to stand up for what is right for all, especially for those who need a voice. Emily is a Maryland resident along with her Mom, Dad and twin sister. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in 2000 and a Masters of Science Degree in Communications in 2018, both from Stevenson University. Ms. Hall is currently the Visitor and Volunteer Services Coordinator at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African-American History in Baltimore, where she has worked since 2005; starting out as a Visitor Services Associate and Group Reservationist. Ms. Hall currently oversees the visitor experience, coordinates tours, volunteers, trains docents and works with and mentors youth interns who work at the Museum. She educates youth about history and developing goals for the future. Joy volunteers with the Greater Baltimore Urban League for “Selfless Saturdays” serving the homeless. She also occasionally volunteers to speak on behalf of the National Easter Seals Society of which she served as the 1989 National Easter Seals Poster Child and the first African-American to serve in that role. She often speaks about living with Cerebral Palsy and the triumphs and challenges faced throughout her life and career. Ms. Hall also serves on the Executive Board of the Janet Hall Foundation, it’s mission to assist breast cancer patients and their families in any way possible, particularly overcoming financial hardship.
